I love the time spent gathering around the table with my dearest family and friends. There is something about sharing a meal together that is so beautiful. Perhaps you have searched online for photos on how to set an inviting table. Most that I see, even though they are beautiful, are not practical if you are actually going to be sitting at the table and eating. The table is so full of decor items that there is no room left for anything, much less dinner serving pieces. I even see photos with vases and candlesticks so tall that you literally would not be able to see the person sitting across from you. Maybe that IS your wish this holiday season, and if so, no judgment here. However, I want to show you that you actually do not need a lot of items to create an elegant table setting this Christmas.
This year, I have chosen to have greenery as my centerpiece and two mercury candle holders. A majority of the December month, I only have a runner on the table and have those items on top of it. I love the beauty of the wood table and do not want to cover it up. However, when I am going to host dinner, out comes the tablecloth. I love the one that I bought at Target last year. It is a champagne color with just the right amount of sheen to it. I find tablecloths to be much easier on the cleanup. Just remove it after dinner, throw it in the wash, and you’re done! Well, except for all the dishes…
I also love using chargers underneath my china. I found mine a Home Goods a couple years ago and I love the sparkle to them. Speaking of sparkle…did you notice the jeweled napkin rings I used? I purchased those at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and I just LOVE the bling! I finished the look off with some metallic cloth napkins (again, easy on the cleanup) and that is all I used. Simple, yet elegant. Don’t feel you need to add a lot to make your table seem complete. It’ll complete itself when you gather around it with your loved ones…because that, my friends, is more beautiful than anything you could decorate it with.
Happy Decorating!
